1969 Camouflage VW Beetle (continued)

Here we are with more of my personal build on my 1969 Camouflage Street Baja Bug. I plan on putting big fat tires on this gal, so I have to cut out the fenders to allow for extra tire clearence. Even with coil over shocks I'll need the extra tire clearance.

As you can see here, I made a simple scribe to easily allow me to a 2" strip on each fender to cut off. Then I broke out the angle grinder. You can use a jig saw or saber saw to do this as well.

Ok ready to break out the Rustoleum Camouflage paint on my VW. Yep, just plain rattle can paint. It is cheap, easy to apply, and tried and true. The best thing about using rattle can paint for a camo paint job is it is cheap and easy to fix any paint scratches or cover small body work. And it looks better than a gaudy vinyl wrap to boot.

Rustoleum Camouflage paint

We used Gray Primer as the base coat then Rustoleum Camouflage Ultra Flat Khaki, Olive Green, Brown and Black paints. When applying any camo paint job start with the lightest color first… going light to dark. I will not reveal all of my secrets, but I am sure you can figure it out from these photos.
