Recommended Bush Baby Cage: Large parrot caging with small diameter bar spacing. There are some large Sugar Glider cages on the market that will be more than adequate for a single Bush Baby.

Bush Baby Vocalizations: I plan on posting recordings of the various vocalizations that Bush Babies may make. Please note, these animals can be very vocal at night. The sole reason they are called Bush Babies is for the baby like cry they emit. More info coming soon…

Bottle-fed animals are recommended as the best pets. We can also supply breeders as well. Call for pricing. Pricing will vary depending on availability, and whether or not the animals are bottle-fed or parent raised.

Odor: Clean animals, they urinate in their hands for marking (dominate males) and traction but do not even have the the small sugarish odor of the Sugar Glider.

Bush Baby Care Sheet
Classification: Order Primates, Family Lorisidae

Natural Range: The dry forests and Savannah's of parts of Africa south of the Sahara Desert.

Appearance: The Bush Baby has a short fur coat with colors ranging from Gray with yellowish highlights (with strip between two large eyes) to brownish in color.

Large oversized ears are designed to catch every sound, making it easy to find a tasty insect to eat. Nimble fingers and toes allow for the Bush Baby to easily grasp branches for climbing, and catching small prey.

Nocturnal by nature, you little Bush Baby is going to wake up in the evening and begin his little adventures in his cage and your home. When properly socialized Bush Babies can make affectionate pets being that they are social by nature.

Although Bush Babies are small (about a foot long) in size, cages should be roomy to allow plenty of play and rummaging room for your new pet. Safe bird toys, pouches, branches and ropes should be supplied inside a large, sturdy escape proof cage. Latches on the cage should not be accessible from the inside of the cage or any Bush Baby will be able to easily open their own cage given some time to figure out the latch mechanism (simple solution is to use locks).

Daily interaction, play, hide and seek food games are advisable to keep your pet happy and tame. If you want an animal to keep in a cage and look at then consider getting a reptile… Bush Babies are social and intelligent creatures that need daily stimulation and play in order to stay happy and healthy.

In the wild, Bush Babies live in groups (sometimes very large groups) and sleep enmasse. When awake, animals will tend to wander by themselves or as pairs while hunting and playing in the tree tops and bush searching for insects, small birds, eggs, fruit, nectar and the occasional lizard or two. While on the hunt in the branches of trees and brush, Bush Babies are capable of leaping a good 10 to 13ft (keep this in mind when handling your animals).
